Philosophy
"The child who has felt a strong love for his surroundings and for all living creatures, who has discovered joy and enthusiasm in work, gives us reason to hope that humanity can develop in a new direction.” (Dr. Maria Montessori, 1949)
A child’s early years are crucial as education, a gradual and on-going process, begins at this time. The Montessori way of teaching is unique in that it allows every child to be a self-motivated and an independent learner. Every child learns through the exploration of his/her environment which is facilitated through freedom of movement and choice.
Role of the Teacher
The role of the teacher is to prepare the environment in a design inspired by the Montessori philosophy. The teacher is a guide for the children, inviting them to learn and explore, and to encourage motivation. The teacher models values such as those of grace and courtesy and human relationships, which are fluidly woven into the daily life of the children’s school day.
